Meet our caring and compassionate veterinary care team committed to providing exceptional veterinary care.
Veterinarian
Dr. Summer Godfrey has been providing veterinary care for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pot-bellied pigs, reptiles, and equines since 2005 and is proud to be a part of the team at Amador Valley.
Dr. Godfrey graduated in 2005 from the U.C. Davis Veterinary School. Her first veterinary job was in Palm Springs, working with horses (focusing on Polo horses) and small animals.
During this time, she broadened her veterinary skills by treating pot-belly pigs and goats. Summer loves all creatures, great and small, and treats exotic pets. She has a great passion for Veterinary Dentistry and keeps current with yearly continuing education classes. She has been a Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) practitioner since 2008. Dr. Godfrey is now also certified in Canine Rehabilitation.
Summer lives with her husband, Steve, her children, Stevie Raye and Sterling, and a houseful of dogs! Summer spends time at home with her family and dogs while not treating her four-legged patients. She loves to visit her in-laws' ranch in Gold Country or her parents' house in Palo Cedro.
Summer and her family are active and enjoy swimming, hiking, and playing outdoors with the dogs! Summer's love and compassion for all animals began as she grew up; her parents always rescued and fostered animals. Growing up in this animal-centric environment paved the way for Summer to create and follow her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Her entire family has pets, and Christmas time is enjoyable and rambunctious - there can be up to 15 dogs at any time!

Registered Veterinary Technician
Shannon has been working in the veterinary field for close to fifteen years and developed her love of animals through working in rescue throughout her teenage years. Shannon lives in Pleasanton with her husband, two sons, Austin and Noah, and their three cats. Shannon runs a small business, making and selling custom-made tumblers in her free time. She also enjoys outings with her family, cooking, and reading.
Kathy has been working in the veterinary field for four years. Her passion for animals originated when she went to Mexico to visit her family. While there, Kathy spent many hours on her grandmother's property, surrounded by her many pets, her grandmother's corral being a favorite place to spend time! When Kathy returned home, she knew she wanted to spend her life working with animals. She begged her mom for years for a family dog, and they eventually adopted their dog and world, Mitsy, in 2010. Kathy spends her free time pet-sitting, reading, or hiking her favorite nature trails.

She has a Green Cheek Conure (Sadie), a Crested Gecko (Speck), and two Beaucerons (Mystic and Phawkes) at home. She has two dogs, Lola and Teddy, and two cats, Tyga and Raider, all of whom keep her and her husband on their toes. She enjoys spending her off time with her husband, Greg, and their two daughters, Nicole and Maddie.

Hospital Cat
Logan came to AVVC at approximately 2 years old in 2009. He's a cuddly love bug but if you give him too much love he'll drool on you! Logan also has quite the purr motor on him and he can get revved up just by someone looking at him. One of his favorite things to do (other than sleep) is to keep any papers left on the tables nice and warm.
RIP Logan, we love you always!
Hospital Cat
Lola is our oldest hospital cat; born in 2003. She was surrendered to us when she was only a year old. She loves attention from the staff (and anybody else who is around)and watches over them as they work. Lola also likes to say hello to our canine patients & make new friends. One of her fun qualities is she likes to sit in people's laps & knead their neck!
RIP Lola, we love and miss you!
Kiley has been working in the veterinary field since 2021. She loves working with and learning about animals because each day presents something new and exciting! Kiley lives with her dog, cat, and four guinea pigs. In her free time, she explores new parks with her husband, Mark, and their dog. They have a tradition of betting on how fast their dog can run laps around the parks they visit!
Hospital Director
Margaret is a graduate of UC San Diego and Purdue University. A veterinary technician for more than 10 years with experience in emergency and critical care, she has managed multiple veterinary hospitals.
Always on the go, she enjoys traveling, gardening, sailing and spending time with her German Wirehaired Pointer Kiel, her cat Vinny, and Captain Jack, a California Desert Tortoise.
