Meet our caring and compassionate veterinary care team committed to providing exceptional veterinary care.
Veterinarian
Dr. Summer Godfrey has been providing veterinary care for dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pot-bellied pigs, reptiles and equines since 2005 and is proud to be a part of the team at Amador Valley.
Dr. Godfrey graduated in 2005 from the U.C. Davis Veterinary School. Her first veterinary job was in Palm Springs working with horses (focusing on Polo horses) and small animals.
During this time she broadened her veterinary skills by treating pot-belly pigs and goats. A lover of all creatures, great and small, Summer also treats exotic pets. She has a great passion for Veterinary Dentistry and keeps current with yearly continuing education classes. She has been a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) since 2008. Dr. Godfrey is now also certified in Canine Rehabilitation.
Summer lives with her husband, Steve, her children, Stevie Raye and Sterling, and a houseful of dogs! When she isn't treating her four-legged patients, Summer can be found spending time at home with her family and dogs. She loves to visit her in-law's ranch in Gold Country or her parent's home in Palo Cedro.
Summer and her family are quite active and enjoy swimming, hiking, and playing with the dogs outdoors! Summer's love and compassion for all animals began as she grew up; her parents always rescued and fostered animals. Growing up in this animal-centric environment paved the way for Summer to create and follow her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Her entire family has pets and Christmas time is especially fun and rambunctious - there can be up to 15 dogs at any given time!
Schedule: Monday - Friday

Veterinarian
Please welcome the newest member of our team here at Amador Valley Veterinary Hospital, Dr. Claire Brownstone.
Dr. Brownstone was born and raised in the midwest, receiving her BA in biochemistry from Washington University in St. Louis. In 2019, she graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, and then went on to complete a one-year internship working at an equine hospital in Minnesota. Although the weather was below freezing, she loved the opportunity to work closely with horses.
What Dr. Brownstone enjoys most about being a veterinarian is the problem-solving aspect and connecting with both people and pets.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her horse Argo, hiking, ice skating, and gaming. She currently is a Contributing Editor for the website gamerswithglasses.com.
Along with Argo, she has a dog (Chiweenie) named Little Man and a cat named Lúthien.
Please note May 2023 Dr. Brownstone will be on extended leave through the Summer.

Registered Veterinary Technician
Hi, I'm Cori! I've been with Amador since February 2021. My passion is exotic animal care and enrichment. I currently have 2 rescue bearded dragons who are positive for Atadenovirus, along with two tarantulas, 2 dogs, a cat, and my turtle pond. In my free time when I am not tending to my own animals, I am gardening or researching exotics/pocket pets and their care.
Registered Veterinary Technician
Erin has been working in the veterinary field since 2017. Her interest in the veterinary profession grew from her love of animals and desire to become a DVM. Erin has a BS degree in Animal Science from Montana State University, obtained her RVT license in 2020, and is currently working on her Master's in Public Health. She has a Green Cheek Conure (Sadie), Crested Gecko (Speck), and two Beauceron's (Mystic and Phawkes) at home. In her free time she enjoys gardening, competing and training in dog sports (barn hunt/agility), and leather crafting.
Client Service Representative
I have been with AVVC since 2014. I come from 20+ years in the dental field so the veterinary industry was completely new for me. I have very much enjoyed learning all there is about animals and am still learning. I love to see all the different types of animals that visit here. I have 2 dogs, Lola and Teddy, and 2 cats, Tyga and Raider. They very much keep us on our toes. I enjoy spending my off time with my husband Greg and 2 daughters Nicole and Maddie.
Hospital Cat
Logan came to us at approximately 2 years old in 2009. He's a cuddly love bug but if you give him too much love he'll drool on you! Logan also has quite the purr motor on him and he can get revved up just by looking at him. One of his favorite things to do (other than sleep) is to keep any papers we leave on the tables nice and warm.
Hospital Cat
Lola is our oldest hospital cat; born in 2003. She was surrendered to us when she was only a year old. She loves attention from the staff (and anybody else who is around)and watches over them as they work. Lola also likes to say hello to our canine patients & make new friends. One of her fun qualities is she likes to sit in people's laps & knead their neck!
Hospital Director
Margaret is a graduate of UC San Diego and Purdue University. A veterinary technician for more than 10 years with experience in emergency and critical care, she has managed multiple veterinary hospitals.
Always on the go, she enjoys traveling, gardening, sailing and spending time with her German Wirehaired Pointer Kiel, her cat Vinny, and Captain Jack, a California Desert Tortoise.
